Use this to: choose an adjustment after something goes wrong or takes more effort than expected.
Try it
- Describe what happened. Keep it specific: a missed step, a late task, or difficulty starting.
- Check the conditions. Were the task, instructions, time, environment, expectations, support, and your current capacity a workable match?
- Identify the strongest point of friction. What most interfered with this particular task?
- Choose one change. Make an adjustment you can test and include any repair the situation needs.
Example
You miss part of a verbal assignment given in a noisy room. You clarify the missed requirement and ask for written instructions next time. That addresses the communication conditions as well as the unfinished work.
Your next step: Finish: “The hardest part was …. Next time, I will change or ask for ….”
