Keep What Helped and Change One Thing

Use this to: learn from an experience by identifying a support worth keeping and one adjustment.

Try it

  1. Name the difficult part. What specifically did not work?
  2. Name what helped. Include your actions, another person’s support, or an accommodation.
  3. Decide what to keep. Preserve something useful instead of starting from scratch.
  4. Choose one change. Keep it small enough to use next time.

Example

You run late for a meeting, but your written notes help you make the points you wanted to make. Keep the notes. Add a preparation reminder before the next meeting instead of deciding your whole approach failed.

Your next step: Finish: “I will keep …. Next time I will change ….”
