Use this to: make a small plan for responding before you are completely depleted.
Try it
- Identify two familiar signs. Examples include rereading, more mistakes, irritability, or noise becoming harder to tolerate.
- Choose one response you can access. Reduce input, pause, eat, ask for help, or shorten a task.
- Make the response easier to remember. Put a note at your desk or pair the check with a regular transition.
Example
You notice you have reread the same email several times and ordinary sounds are irritating. Your plan is to pause messages, move to a less noisy space, and reconsider whether the email needs to be finished now.
Your next step: Write: “When I notice …, I will try …. If that isn’t enough, I can ….”
