Share the Whole Task, Including the Planning

Use this to: change one shared responsibility that leaves too much remembering or follow-up with one person.

Try it

  1. Choose one task. List the noticing, planning, doing, and follow-up it requires.
  2. Compare the load. Ask who handles each part and what each person can reasonably sustain.
  3. Agree on ownership and support. Name who is taking which parts, the necessary standard, and any reminders or accommodations.
  4. Set a review time. Check whether the arrangement reduced the load for both people.

Example

One person cooks, but the other still plans every meal and checks supplies. They agree that the cook will also choose meals and use a shared shopping list. Simpler meals make the full task more manageable.

Your next step: Write one agreement: “… will handle …, with … support. We’ll check how it works on ….”
